- Dynamic websites: A common issue with dynamic websites is that search engines cannot crawl or choose not to crawl the site and index all of the content.
- Content management websites: Content Management Systems (CMS's) like IBM® WebSphere, MedSeek SiteMaker CMS, BroadVision One-To-One®, and many others are an excellent way to build and maintain websites, however search engines often have trouble with these type of websites.
- Storefront websites: The advantages of these sites are ease of management and a consistent user experience throughout the entire online store. However they are typically incompatible with search engines, making your content-rich product pages practically invisible.
- Password protected websites: A login is typically used in order to collect information about the visitors or to simply gather statistics about who is visiting the site. However, this also stops most search engines.

Birth of a Solution
By our estimates, there are more than 100,000 websites falling into these categories, unable to get listed on the search engines' unpaid search results. This is the equivalent of not being listed in the phone book's white pages. It puts the company at a terrific competitive disadvantage. Indeed, to any clear-thinking marketer, it's simply unacceptable.
With that in mind, our team of technologists began "searching" for a solution. We stopped calling ourselves "optimizers," because we were no longer comfortable with that description. And we began developing a solution for dynamic websites, a solution that would deliver on four crucial mission-critical criteria:
- Automated - requiring little time and no effort from the company.
- Compliant - conforming to the spirit and letter of search engine guidelines.
- Affordable - allowing companies of all sizes to budget for the solution.
- Measurable - making it possible for marketers to judge its real value.
We were not alone in seeking a solution to this problem, of course. A number of companies developed their own "bridges across the chasm." We are happy to share a "competitive analysis" with you in the spirit of openness:
| SOLUTION OPTIONS | COST | IT DEPT. ROLE | RISKS |
| Software (such as XQASP) | Low | High | High* |
| Code Rewrite (using CGI/Perl Scripts) | High | High | Medium |
| Dynamic Site Caching | Low | Low | Low |
* Occasionally "breaks" the site and results in costly downtime.
Dynamic Site Caching is not for everybody. But if you are looking for a swift automated ASP solution, with no on-going demands on the IT department, and a pay-only-for-results pricing structure, then test the service on a trial basis.
